Semen freezing

This technique is indicated in patients with cancer, which can be damaged their reproductive function due to chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments. It is also indicated prior to a vasectomy or in those cases in which the patient cannot be present on the day of the extraction of the ovules of his partner for an in vitro fertilization treatment. Even in cases in which the male has problems to collect the sample, knowing that he has a frozen sample will provide tranquility.

The freezing of semen consists of putting the seminal sample in contact with a cryoprotectant, which is a substance that allows us to maintain the integrity of the sperm during the procedure, and then keep the samples preserved at an extremely low temperature (-196ºC) in nitrogen liquid.

Semen samples will be preserved indefinitely until the male decides to end his reproductive desire or until the in vitro fertilization cycle has ended.
