Duration of an IVF treatment
In total, a complete IVF process can take about 5 to 6 weeks. However, it is difficult to establish exactly how long this whole process will take since each person reacts differently when undergoing hormone therapy.
In addition, in vitro fertilization is not a single treatment, but in reality it is an assisted reproduction technique that is made up of various procedures that have to work both individually and as a whole to achieve the result of the treatment is as expected.

Initial ultrasound
An ultrasound is performed before starting any assisted reproduction treatment in order to assess the state of the pregnant woman’s uterus and her ovarian reserve.
Ovarian stimulation
It consists of a hormonal treatment to get several follicles to mature in the ovary at the same time. Naturally in each menstrual cycle, one or two follicles mature in the ovary.
Follicular puncture
Through a vaginal ultrasound, the gynecologist will see when is the most suitable day to extract the woman’s eggs. This extraction is what we know as a follicular puncture. From the start of ovarian stimulation until the follicular puncture, approximately two weeks pass.
Fertilization and embryo culture
Once the eggs are retrieved, they are fertilized and monitored for a maximum of 6 days. Depending on the development of the embryo or embryos, it will be decided when the embryo transfer takes place. To carry out the embryo transfer, the maturation of the embryo or embryos must coincide with an optimal state of the endometrium of the pregnant woman. After the transfer, you have to wait 12-15 days to know if the woman is pregnant.
