Fertility terms you may not know yet III

1. Oligoastenozoospermia:

It is a type of seminal disorder that consists in a decrease in the concentration and mobility of the sperm.
It affects male fertility and generally men who suffer from it must undergo an IFV (In Vitro Fertilisation) treatment.
2. Azoospermia/ Obstructive Azoospermia:

Azoospermia is the absence of sperm in the ejaculation. Depending on its origin, it can be differentiated between obstructive or secretory.
Obstructive azoospermia causes male infertility due to the obstruction of the seminal ducts which makes impossible for the semen to get out of them, even though the testicles produce and store sperm.

3. Endometriosis:

It is a disorder of the uterine lining (endometrium) that grows outside of the womb. It is one of the most common causes of infertility in women trying to get pregnant naturally. Sometimes it can go unnoticed, although it usually causes period pain or dysmenorrhea.
This disease affects 1 in 10 women in fertile age.
4. PCO (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome):

It is a complex metabolic disorder that results in multiple small follicles in the ovary. It affects many women in reproductive age, who have higher levels of male hormones (androgens), which can lead to disorders in ovulation and menstruation. Many women with this syndrome have anovulation and / or amenorrhea, absence of ovulation and / or menstruation.
5. Hysterosalpingography (HSG):

Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is an X-ray procedure that is used to view the inside of the uterus and fallopian tubes and check on their permeability. It often is used to see if the fallopian tubes are partly or fully blocked.
It also can show if the inside of the uterus is of a normal size and shape. It is recommended to be carried out previously to IUI treatments.
