DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is a molecule found in every cell of our body that carries the genetic information necessary for the development and functioning of the organism.

The sperm DNA fragmentation test consists of detecting breaks in one or both strands of the DNA molecule found in the head of the sperm cell. These breaks are caused by different factors and are associated with lower fertility rates.

There are treatments available to reduce DNA fragmentation, which will depend on the underlying factors that have caused it. Furthermore, at HC Fertility we utilise laboratory techniques that allow us to select sperm with low DNA fragmentation for use in different assisted fertilisation procedures.
