Last week in Malaga, the 31st Congress of the Spanish Fertility Society took place. The HC Fertility team attended the Congress, presenting discussions and posters that were displayed as scientific input for the duration of the Congress.

This Biannual Conference brings together fertility experts both national and international, in which different subjects and studies are discussed that are currently underway in clinics, centers and laboratories of assisted reproduction.

Among the highlights of this Congress, was discussed the limitation on the number of children born from a donor, Why six?. Currently, according to Law 14/2006 of 26 May, on assisted human reproduction techniques Spain can only have 6 children born from the same donor. After discussion it was concluded that the number of children born could be increased. We must also consider the number of donations in Spain made to foreign couples, and therefore the risk of inbreeding would be minimal, since the same donor could have children in different countries.

Another topic discussed was the current state of egg donations in Spain, the most appropriate type of protocol, number of donations, optimal number of donated eggs to achieve a pregnancy, analytical and genetic studies of donors, also discussed the need to create a national register of donors was highlighted.

Myths and Realities of immunology in reproduction is a very interesting topic to devote a separate article.
